A practical comparison of the Trillium & SkyRail Bundle against the Trilogy 6-Person Tree Tent, covering what each includes, how they differ, and which setup fits your camp.
Quick answer
Choose the Trillium & SkyRail Bundle when you want a suspended lounge or hangout space for up to six people and already own or don't need a sleeping tent. Choose the Trilogy 6-Person Tree Tent when you need a full six-person suspended basecamp with sleeping capacity. They solve different problems: one is a social hub, the other is a complete camp.
What the Trillium & SkyRail Bundle actually includes
The bundle pairs a Trillium Mesh or Trillium Safari 3/6-Person Hammock with compatible SkyRail Backrests, so you get the hammock platform and the backrest support in one purchase. The Trillium is a multi-person hammock designed for hanging out, not sleeping a full group overnight. The SkyRail Backrests add back support so people can sit up comfortably instead of lying flat. If you already have a sleeping setup, this bundle turns unused trees into a daytime gathering space.
What the Trilogy 6-Person Tree Tent includes
The Trilogy 6-Person Super Tree Tent links three Connect tents with a massive central dome. It sleeps up to six adults and adds a huge communal space, and Tentsile states it saves 20% versus buying the components separately. This is a full suspended basecamp, not an accessory. Setup is more involved than a single hammock because you are tensioning a multi-part structure, so plan for a longer pitch and more anchor points.
How to use the Trillium & SkyRail Bundle well
Hang the Trillium between trees that can handle a multi-person load, then attach the SkyRail Backrests along the rail so sitters have support. Keep the hammock low enough to step in safely but high enough to clear rocks and roots. Because the bundle is a hangout space, pair it with a separate sleeping tent or tree tent for overnight trips. Store the backrests inside the hammock stuff sack so they don't get lost between trips.
Trade-offs to weigh
- Purpose: lounge vs. sleep: The Trillium & SkyRail Bundle is a hangout space with back support, while the Trilogy is a full sleeping basecamp for up to six adults. Buy the bundle if you mainly want a daytime social hub; buy the Trilogy if you need beds.
- Setup effort: A single hammock plus backrests is quicker to pitch than a three-tent linked structure with a central dome. Short trips or frequent moves favor the bundle; longer basecamps can justify the Trilogy.
- Value math: The Trilogy is stated to save 20% versus buying separately, and the bundle combines two compatible items at a catalog price of USD 508.50 against a USD 678.00 comparison price. Both are bundle savings, so compare what you actually need rather than the discount alone.
Product facts
- Trillium & SkyRail Bundles: Bundles include a choice of Trillium Mesh / Trillium Safari 3/6-Person Hammocks and compatible SkyRail Backrests. You pick the hammock fabric and size, and the backrests are matched to the hammock, so you don't have to hunt for compatible parts.
- Trilogy 6-Person Tree Tent: The Trilogy 6-Person Super Tree Tent links three Connect tents with a massive central dome and sleeps up to 6 adults, saving 20% versus buying separately. If you need sleeping capacity for six plus a communal area, this is the all-in-one option and the stated saving makes it cheaper than assembling the same setup piece by piece.
