I swapped out one of the heavy ratchets on my setup for this friction lock and immediately noticed the difference in pack weight. It holds tension just as securely but makes the whole rig feel much more streamlined.

Took these on a three-day hike and the weight savings from ditching one ratchet was immediately noticeable in my pack. The friction lock mechanism held my tent perfectly stable through a windy night.

Didn't think dropping one ratchet would matter much until I carried my setup a few miles in. The friction lock holds tension just fine and my pack's noticeably lighter now. Just double-check the sizing chart before ordering, I almost got the wrong one.
